Market Research

I have researched alot of magazine front covers, with the genre of music and other. They all feature a famous cover star as the prominant image to attract the potential audience, in most cases the cover star is partly covering the masthead. Text image cohesion is also used with the main image, plugs and subheadings, and a simple colour scheme is used throughout to make the cover more asthetically pleasing and easy to read. As i will also be making a contents page and double page spread, it was necessary for me to also research into existing versions of these, and analyse how the genre is represented, the layout, and the key features.

Introduction

Hello. My name is Elizabeth Adams and i study Media, English Language, Maths and Further Maths at Winstanley College.
On this blog i will track my process in researching, planning and producing my magazine. The brief is to make the front cover, contents page and double page spread of a magazine, based on music. As i am very interested in fashion, my magazine will be young and trendy featuring new and stylish musicians, focusing on their music and how this influences their style.
My target audience is females, aged 16-25 who are primarily interested in music and/or fashion. I will make sure my magazine is aimed at females by using colours that have feminine connotations, and featuring 'celebrities' that women may aspire to be/look like. The price of my magazine will be affordable, as stereotypically women of that age may not have full time jobs and therefore cannot afford an expensive fortnightly magazine.
